Bert Verweij

“In the end, programming is not a goal in itself, but a means to arrive at the desired results.”

My name is Bert Verweij. After completing my secondary education and fulfilling my military service, I started my working life at Shell. In this period, a passion for the opportunities and application of IT in business was born, and I decided to expand my knowledge of the programming/technical side of this field. After having worked in mainframe environments with programming languages such as COBOL, MARK IV and NOMAD2 for ten years, I switched to SAP R/3 with ABAP in 1995.

In my role as SAP ABAP development consultant, it has always been my methodology to first gain a thorough overview of the functional desires of my customers. My guiding principle is – and this may sound remarkable for someone in my position – to make as much as possible use of the standard options that SAP provides. If a tailor-made solution is necessary, it is very important for me to maintain intensive contact with the customer during the construction phase and evaluate the progress intermittently. Key words for my custom-made solutions are: efficient, pragmatic, reusability and transferability of coding, readability, intercollegial consultation.

I have gathered a great deal of experience in most SAP modules, within a broad range of projects, and as such, can make an important contribution in discussions on tailor-made solutions. In the end, programming is not a goal in itself, but a means to arrive at the desired results.
